Privacy Policy — Home Greenskeeper

Home Greenskeeper ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using the Home Greenskeeper mobile application, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

Email address (required for authentication)
Password (stored as a secure hash — we never see your plaintext password)

Location Data

With your permission, the app accesses your device's GPS coordinates solely to retrieve local weather and soil temperature data. Location is requested on the Weather screen and is never stored on our servers. If you deny location permission, you may enter a ZIP code instead.

When you save a yard with a street address, we use the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service to geocode that address to latitude/longitude coordinates. Those coordinates are stored in your account to enable yard-specific weather lookups.

Lawn Care Data

All data you enter in the app is stored securely in your account, including:

Yard details (name, address, size, grass type, soil type)
Mowing logs (date, cut height, duration, pattern, notes)
Fertilizer applications (product, NPK values, rate, method, area)
Chemical treatments (product, type, active ingredient, rate, re-entry interval)
Equipment and maintenance records

Device and Usage Information

We and our third-party advertising partner (Google AdMob) may collect:

Device identifiers (advertising ID, device type, OS version)
App usage data (screens viewed, features used)
Crash reports and diagnostic information
IP address and general geographic region (not precise location)

Pro subscribers who have upgraded to the ad-free tier are not subject to advertising-related data collection.

Email Address (Marketing)

If you opt in to our mailing list, your email address is stored with Mailchimp for the purpose of sending product updates and lawn care tips. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

2. How We Use Your Information

4. Data Retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information and lawn care logs are permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymized data may be retained for analytical purposes.

5. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including:

Encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS) for all data in transit
Row-level security on our database — your data is only accessible to your account
Passwords stored as secure cryptographic hashes
Session tokens stored in your device's secure encrypted storage

No system is perfectly secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

6. California Residents — CCPA Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you specific rights regarding your personal information.

Your Rights

Right to Know: You may request a report of the personal information we have collected about you in the past 12 months.
Right to Delete: You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
Right to Opt Out: We do not sell personal information. If that changes, you will have the right to opt out.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

To exercise these rights, email us at info@homegreenskeeper.com with the subject line "CCPA Request." We will respond within 45 days.

7. Children's Privacy

Home Greenskeeper is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. How to Request Data Deletion

Option 1 — Delete from the App

Account deletion will be available in the app settings. Deleting your account permanently removes all your data from our servers.

Option 2 — Email Request

Email info@homegreenskeeper.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and the email address associated with your account. We will process your request within 30 days and confirm by email when complete.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice in the app. Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
